An equally impressive update was released by Google as part of the January patch for Android.

The first Android security updates for 2023 fix a total of 60 vulnerabilities.

The first part is the security patch level 2023-01-01, eliminates 19 defects in the Framework and System components.

The most serious of these problems is a vulnerability in the Framework component, which can lead to local elevation of privileges without the need for additional execution rights.

In total, 11 privilege escalation errors were fixed in the Framework component, as well as 3 denial of service issues.

At the same time, 5 other vulnerabilities related to privilege escalation were eliminated in the system component.

The second part of this month's January security update, which arrives on devices as a security patch level 2023-01-05, fixes another 41 vulnerabilities in the kernel and third-party components.

The most important of them are 4 vulnerabilities of critical severity in the kernel and kernel components, each of which leads to RCE, as well as 2 more serious privilege escalation errors.

The updates also fix bugs in Kernel LTS, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek, Unisoc, Qualcomm and Qualcomm closed source components.

Google has eliminated eight vulnerabilities in Pixel devices, including 3 high-severity vulnerabilities and 5 medium-severity vulnerabilities in Qualcomm components.

Google also announced fixes for eight vulnerabilities as part of the Android Automotive updates for January 2023, including 3 mandatory ones in the Media Framework and Platform Apps components and 5 optional ones in Platform Apps, System UI and Kernel.
